About Truth for Today

Who we are

As a group of Christian Bible teachers, we much prefer not to preach about ourselves, but to preach Christ Jesus our Lord (2 Corinthians 4:5). Although our purpose is to glorify God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord, we appreciate that people would like to know something about us.

We recognise only that name used of us in Scripture, "Christians" (1 Peter 4:16). Therefore, as individuals, we are disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 11:26). Each of us meets with other Christian believers in a local Christian Brethren assembly (church). These assemblies are associated with Scripture Truth Publications (see Links page).

Our aim

Our aim, by the grace of God, is to proclaim Christ, "warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus" (Colossians 1:28).

Our statement of faith

We believe that:

  1. There is one true God, who is triune in being and who is revealed as three eternal Persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

  2. The Bible is the inspired Word of God and is inerrant in the original writings. Therefore, it is the only authority in all matters of faith and practice.

  3. Jesus Christ is divine (God’s eternal Son) and we believe in His: virgin birth, sinless humanity, substitutionary death, atoning blood, bodily resurrection ascension to heaven.

  4. The finished work of Christ in redemption is the only ground of salvation. Repentance toward God and faith in Christ are the only means of obtaining that salvation. Once saved, believers in Jesus Christ as Saviour cannot be lost and should be marked by “good works” as His disciples.

  5. Man is created in the divine image. Man’s subsequent fall through sin resulted in universal guilt. Hence the consequent necessity of salvation by faith in Christ alone, without works, and solely by grace.

  6. Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are the two ordinances which Christian believers should observe.

  7. Christians are indwelt by the Spirit of God and when they meet together in assembly, the Holy Spirit alone should direct their worship. The indwelling Holy Spirit enables believers to live godly lives.

  8. There is one true church, the body of Christ, consisting of all true believers, regardless of race or social standing. The Church will be the heavenly bride, or companion, of Christ for eternity.

  9. The bodily resurrection of every person will result in eternal glory for believers in heaven, but everlasting punishment for unbelievers in hell.

  10. Christ is literally coming again soon for all who have trusted in God - those in the past who have died and those who are presently alive - to take them to heaven, where they will be with Christ for eternity.

  11. This imminent rapture of the church will be followed by Christ’s personal return to establish his millennial kingdom on earth as King of kings and Lord of lords.

  12. At the end of the Kingdom (at the end of time), the wicked will be judged for their sins at the great white throne and they will receive eternal punishment.
